Last night was another night filled with fun as my team [A07] and One Entertainment introduced San Diego to newcomer, Colby O’Donis.
Colby was born March 14, 1989 in Queens, New York of Guyanese and Puerto Rican descent. He is an up and coming singer/songwriter currently signed to Konvict Music/Intercope Records with his first hit single, “what you got” circling the airwaves.
Before his performance, we featured a swimsuit fashion show from Nickster along with live body painting for all club goers and an opening act followed by the main performance.
After his introduction, he was greeted by screaming women throughout the club. After a loud happily shouted, “wassup San Diego!” he performed what i thought to be and quick warm up of, Neyo’s “so sick”. He is a very talented musician and can actually “sing” live. Afterwards, he took us on a ride of select songs from his new album involving the crowd with back and forth mic gestures, hand touching with fans, and a dance performance with his two backup dancers that were present.
The Event was an overall plus for me as well. It was the first time I shot an entire performance in manual mode on my DSLR. I usually alternate between aperture mode and manual using a flash and my Gary Fong Lightsphere. So what did I learn? Everyday is another chance to get better no matter how good you are….Enjoy!!!
